At last a book about the best league in Europe. Also one which does not kiss the rear end of Barcelona like most books in England about Spanish football. The writer tries to explain the divisions in each region and why this probably has a lot to do with the national team`s lack of success at international level. There are funny stories though, like the one about former Barcelona player Stoichkov chasing a hare at the Nou Camp after it had been released by Atletico Madrid fans and ran across his path making him stumble just as he was about to curl in a shot for his third goal. An interesting read, well worth a look if you follow Spanish football or are interested in football in other countries.

Any fan interested in a rich footballing world that includes much more than Barca and Real Madrid would be well advised to pick up a copy. Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Espanyol are among the lesser lights given a fair crack of the whip - such that Morbo can justifiably call itself a must-read for the visiting supporter

Jeff King wrote a splendid history of Barcelona last year, and this overview of the Spanish game is just as good.
Those who may think they know a good deal about the game in Spain, as I did, soon find themselves being caught out. I suggest you get a copy of Morbo and find out for yourself, if only to find out what the word means.

Morbo is an intelligent and well-researched read that is as much a history of modern Spain as it is of Spanish football.

Nice, intriguing book worth a good read.
The introduction chapter is definitely the best and the rest are also well-researched. Also, the author prefers not to pass judgement but only tries to state facts. That`s one of the best points.
The book is also a nice indicator of the Spanish culture, the politics that abound it and hence makes very interesting reading, especially for a Non-European like me.
Thanks, Phil for the good book!
